This is a review of the restaurant, not the hookah bar.   Marrakech is one of the better middle eastern restaurants in Denver, certainly the best on the Colorado Blvd strip it inhabits (and that's saying something, because there are a lot of them).   First of all, it's clean and sleek; the tables all have copper tops, and the place is spacious.  Second, service is excellent; food was served up briskly on a recent weekend visit for lunch.   Our waitress was a bit green, but very friendly.  I have to say it's refreshing to be in a middle eastern restaurant where the wait staff is not a relative of the owner; it says that you're approaching this like a real business.     The food is excellent.  We had gyros, kubideh, and several salads.   All excellent.  I can't testify that the bread was baked on site, but it was served warm, and certainly tasted fresh.   The kubideh (ground lamb and beef roasted on a spit and served in the shape of a sausage) was awesome--juicy and tender.  At every other place I've tried it in Denver, it's dry as a bone.   Not here.  The salads were all nice, taboulleh and fattoush salads had wonderful dressings and generous portions.  The hummos was delish!  We also had the baba gannoush, and that was the only thing that seemed a bit off to me; it had so much sesame paste and was so smooth, you hardly could taste the difference between it and the hummos.  It could use a stronger presence of eggplant.  In fact, at first, I thought that the waitress had messed up the order and given us hummos.   I can't wait to go back and try more things off the menu!

When I couldn't go to bars to drink this was the hippest coolest place to be.  Almost always crowded and hopping, often with people on the tables and counters dancing to a variety of hip hop and arabian dance music.  The hooka's are overpriced and haven't been as high quality since they moved into the new building.  I don't go anymore but for the 18-20ers its an outstanding place to go out and meet people.  The tea is fantastic, always get a pot.

My favorite Hookah Bar in Colorado.  The atmosphere is amazing.  So is the service.  Go once a week and you'll end up best friends with the entire staff.Unfortunately, it's located close to Denver University, so on weekends it gets crowded early and it's a small place.  Get there before 8 or you'll be S.O.L. and stuck with nowhere to sit.  Literally.  The staff does all they can to fit as many people in (squeezing tables together, sticking random people at the same table), but when they're full, they're full.  The music is always great, but after about 10:00 on a weekend when there are really too many people there it gets loud.  It would be easier to sit and text message the person next to you than to try and yell over the noise.I recommend going on a weeknight.  I don't smoke, and I still love going with my friends just to hang out.  Try their tea.  You'll fall in love.

The place does have really good food, but over the last 3 visits there I've had consistently poor and indifferent service, which is really disappointing given the fantastic experience I had on my first visit.  Bumpin' them down a star, much more "I'm a fan" than "as good as it gets". I am also reviewing the restaurant, not the hookah bar. And .. in short, my only visit here was…

There is a restaurant, the entrance is in the picture at the top of the page when you're viewing all the Yelp reviews of Marrakech--on the corner of Iliff and Colorado Bouldevard, and it is completely separate from the hookah bar that the other reviewers are describing.  This was just a restaurant, not a bar or a hookah bar.  Just to clarify what I'm reviewing here.Went to a work meeting last night, and the group decided to go to this cafe for dinner afterward.  It was late, because I didn't get home until after 10.  Not sure what time we got there. We got attentive service, and the food was excellent.  8 of us, and many picky eaters among us, all of whom are familiar with many other Middle Eastern restaurants and cafes both in the Front Range and around the country;  even in the Middle East.First, we had hummus with flatbread.  The flatbread here is excellent.  and seems fresher than pita from a bag.  Hummus was some of the best I've tried, and I've made my own as well as trying many different and marvelous hummuses in my life.We all adored the hummus. My entree was the salmon, which is not a usual Middle Eastern sort of entree.  They probably have it on the menu since salmon is a popular choice of dinner entree for restaurant-goers.  It was well prepared, with some fresh vegetables, and plentiful basmati rice.  A salad came before the dinner, too, and it was fresh, crisp, and good.  I don't know why so many restaurants, including this one, choose to cut the seeds out of the cucumbers....maybe I should ask sometime.  Others tried various entrees....3 ordered lamb chops and loved them.  Those were also accompanied by rice and fresh vegetables.A few had chicken entrees and seemed to love their food.  Most of us had so much food, we brought home large containers of leftovers for the next day.The service, while attentive, detail-oriented, and efficient, was not particularly friendly, but that did not seem to matter. After we sat for a long while talking about work stuff, a few people decided to inquire as to the dessert menu.  There are 2 desserts here, the baklava, and another dessert (I apologize but do not know the name of the dessert) which is similar to baklava, but has cream cheese in the middle and shredded filo dough on top.  4 of us shared the cream cheese dessert and it was spectacular.Mind you, I am not easy to please.  I totally recommend that dessert!I think the others would toolI should add that there are some creative drink choices.  The creative drink choices I'm talking about are: mango juice, strawberry juice, a nice pot of hot mint tea....that sort of creative drink.  Of course they've got all the usual carbonated drinks, too.The mango juice was good, as was the mint tea.I just cannot think of anything wrong with our experience here, and I hope to return again soon!

The food is good and it's halal, except the gyros. This has become a bit of a problem for me, since when I order beef shawarma lately, they've just given me gyros instead.  I've mentioned it each time, but have gotten nowhere. If they've stopped serving beef shawarma, they should tell people so those who order it wanting to stay halal won't make a mistake in ordering it. Other than that, I have no complaints.

The restaurant is very good and the reviews should indicate the difference between the hookah lounge next door and the restaurant.  They are two different places.  My review is for the restaurant, though for a fun time it is enjoyable to go smoke the hubbly bubbly and people watch the DU and students dancing on the tables.Among the great dishes here are the top notch lamb's tongue soup and fava bean dip.  Yummy baba ganoush and humus are highly recommended too.  Good shwarma as well.My four year old loves it here.  Again I notice that in the additional tips section several people have said that this is not a good place for children.  I could not disagree more.  Parents need to take every opportunity to expose their children to as many quality and healthy foods as possible.  My son has never had a Chicken McNugget, but when given a choice as to where he would like to eat, he will usually choose sushi, dim sum middle eastern or something else.  Don't buy into the marketing that kids want mac and cheese and chicken sticks when they eat.  They will eat the same things you eat if you expose them to your diet while they are young.  My four year old doesn't know that kids aren't supposed to like lamb's tongue soup, and as a result he eats it.

I have always liked this place.  The food is fantastic, although sometimes over salted, they grill a slice of pita like no body's business, and I've always had a good experience with the service.  I came here recently and shared two plates of food with Jared.  TOO much food!  We took leftovers home and grilled them up a few nights later and the food was even better than it was the first time!!  Try the place out but drink lots of water.  There is a lot of sodium in the food.
