A place to land and get some sleep (or whatever else you need to do) with easy proximity to downtown Denver and to all of the many, many, many, many, many liquor buying opportunities along Colfax Avenue. Clean and spacious enough rooms. Free wifi. Free breakfast with bagels, danishes, juice, coffee, etc, that seemed to run out quickly. Other than that, no frills or real other amenities - and parking in their lot is apparently a frilly amenity, because they have like 50 rooms and like 25 parking spaces - so park early and hold your space down like a mofo or else you could be circling the block ...for a while.... The immediately surrounding area definitely has a vibe of a seedy-leaning neighborhood in the process of quasi-gentrifying, or something like that, like XXX looking-at-nekid-lady places mixed with hookah bars mixed with panhandlers mixed with cute gastropubs mixed with me (yo!). Lovely people watching opportunities from the window and (at least in our room) some pretty decent views of the city and some mountains. PS - Expect absolutely no help from the desk staff, more than one of whom said they only knew how to give directions to and from other things directly on Colfax - apparently everyone who works here is from another state or something... "Hi, we're lost and trying to find the hotel, can you give us directions?" "Only if you're on Colfax. Are you on Colfax?" "No, we're lost and we can't find Colfax." "Ohh. Man...I don't know..." "Um, okay...Really?" "Yeahhh..." So bring your own map.

I have to say, I like the fact that Tina B. and I are the only two reviewers of this hotel and we're both from Chicago. Yay!So, I've been waiting to write this review because the EconoLodge and I really got off on the wrong foot. I called to see if we could check in early and got a bunch of dumb attitude from the girl working at the desk. I really hate stupid people, and I really hate stupid people who are trying to tell me what to do. There was no parking available and no single rooms were clean. This happened three times before we finally arrived at the hotel. The same yutz was still working and there were still no single rooms available. This tested my patience, for sure. At 2:40 I was getting very impatient because we needed a room by 3. Of course, at 2:55 our room was finally ready, so we were able to go upstairs. The parking lot is tiny, so get your space and get it early. The later it gets, the fuller the lot becomes. This happened to be THE place for Pride Weekend, so the lot was full of drunk idiots who probably shouldn't have been driving cars. One desk employee told us they only had 20 parking spaces and 50 rooms. The only nice thing is they allow you to park in some places that aren't really spaces and they don't mind because they know the lot is tiny. Thanks. The rooms were nice but pretty small and NOTHING is sound proof. There's one thing that really bothers me in a hotel: hearing everything that everyone else is doing. If you're running a hotel, I don't care if the room is tiny; I'd rather be in the tiny room and be comfortable and sleep well than be in a large room and hear everything. We stayed on the west side of the hotel so we could hear EVERYTHING from the bar down below. I know everyone was having fun, but I am really bothered by the sound of dance music bass at 2 a.m. I had to make an emergency run to King Soopers because the hotel and 7-11 did not sell ear plugs. Annoying. The bed was OK - definitely the smallest I've ever stayed in in a hotel (I'm pretty sure it was just a double, not even a full bed). Clean linens, clean towels, bad TV. At least there was a desk to set the computer. Free WiFi is always a plus and I would give that five stars if I could. I'm so glad we had access to the Internet or this place would have been a total bust. Small bathroom but there's free shampoo in case you forgot yours. The continental breakfast sucked, but that's to be expected. I just had coffee because the juice machine was working so slowly that I couldn't stand and wait that long. Those working at the desk were mostly nice except that one lady in the morning/early afternoon. She just really got on my nerves and that is annoying. Everyone else seemed nice enough and knowledgeable of the area, which is always good. Blech, I wouldn't stay here again. We got a pretty good deal on http://Hotwire.com as we only paid $60 for the room, but the real rates of this place are WAY too much for what it is. The rooms are over $100/night and most people were probably paying full price. This place definitely isn't worth that much money and I just couldn't feel good about myself if I actually paid that.
