Kebabs are Persian style. Had a jujeh kebab: a big strip of marinated chicken breast cooked on a skewer. Nicely cooked, nicely spiced. Good tomatoes, onion and rice as well, at a reasonable price. Nothing original, but executed flawlessly.

A family member found out I was traveling through Salt Lake City and mentioned that I have to eat at House of Kabob. I was told the service was exceptional and the food was even better so I gave it a shot. Its located in downtown SLC and is easy to find but I didn't expect spending 15 minutes or more trying to find parking. Once inside, we were immediately greeted by James, our hospitable and knowledgeable waiter. After ordering mast o'khyar and hummus appetizers, everyone in our party agreed that they were both good. I've eaten at some of the best Persian restaurants in California so I'm being a bit picky when I say their hummus lacked a little something. This place's claim to fame is that their meet is "incredibly fresh" which I later found out translates to "nothing is ever frozen". (which got my mind rolling on exactly what happens behind those closed doors....ok enough intrusive thoughts!).I got the barg and chicken combination plate served on lemon rice with grilled veggies. The barg was not all that spectacular. The meat was spiced and marinated nicely but it was not tenderized at all and was quite over cooked. The chicken, however, was very good.I would recommend checking this place out. The prices are reasonable, the service is great, and they have a hookah lounge/night club upstairs after hours.
