if mike is indeed the owner of this head shop, then mike is a 60-something indian guy that has more in common with a someone who sells paneer than an average purveyor of pipes. but that seems to be the trend on the stretch of the walk of fame east of highland.i won't go so far as to gush over the selection of pipes and bongs, which was ok at best. there's some quality pieces to be found but i didn't see anything that made me want to run my hands over it. but the store was nicely arranged and it is nice not having to reach between rows of vibrators to point out rolling papers or a pipe, a rarity on hollywood blvd.the store is indicative of hollywood in general, post-Kodak theater. still seedy but a little more scrubbed down with a dose of hipsterfication (see: lucky devils and american apparel across the street).the girl working the register was very helpful.plus one star for being the best head shop on hollywood blvd.

Mike's is probably one of the better shops in Hollywood.  They have a decent selection and a variety of prices.  The only reason it only gets 3 stars is because I feel there is superior head shops in the LA area.  The shops in Venice Beach seem to have better prices.  Also, I'd recommend checking out Dementia.

So the actual shop is pretty extensive and is seriously a smoker's candy store but that's not really what I'm here to yelp about. go next door...that's what the recurring theme in this place is.next door is the hookah lounge. Very chill. very small..but not cramped. good music. very relaxing. and awesome hookah. they had what we wanted (kiwi...well strawberry kiwi...but it was close enough). the guy kept our coals goin until we we're done and even ashed it out for us when it got a bit ashy. overall...when you're done walkin around hollywood and want a place to relax...head over to Mike's.back to the actual store...the guys there really do know their stuff.Glen was the guy helpin us out and totally didn't seem to mind when we asked what seemed to be a billion questions. two thumbs up for Glen.I will most definitely be back :]

Right on.  Radhika was very nice and helpful.On a street like Hollywood blvd, they can certainly afford to fuck you blind because: Location. Location. Location.  And where else can you find more stumbling morons willing to part with their coin than Hollywood Blvd?  Who knows.Anyways, I actually stopped myself at the doorway to take it all in... this place is immense.  A cornucopia of choice!Great prices... there seems to be a "deal section" that's well stocked.ALSO: be sure to check out the monster pipe at the end of the store... I couldn't stop laughing about it.  I called it the "Widow Maker" but it looks more like it was built for a party bus.I like this place. A+++ Would go again.

Yeah, great, but no one mentions whether they salvia or not...... Not that it's the smoke shops problem....  I am giving them lots of stars.... for no reason other than the fasct that any guy who opens, and expands a smoke shop must be pretty cool, and anyone who calls that father fang guy "father" must be pretty funny and mellow...

***UPDATE*** 6/14/2009Yesterday i went to the LA convention center for the THC expo, little did i know there was a porn convention goin on at the same time witch was pretty funny, but anyways back to the point. Turns out the expo wasn't all to great so i asked my buddy if he wanted to go to mikes i told him about how chill this shop was. So we head over there and they totally remembered who i was and told me they got in the I-Tal hemp wick that i had asked for so i was very happy about that.Of course as soon as i see all the beautiful pieces they have i couldn't resist i picked up a little water pipe for quick tokes they gave me a great price and also exchanged a down tube that was a little short without hesitation. Once again i come in buy a great product receive great service and leave happy and excited for the next time i head out to mikes!! thanks guys!http://img196.imagesha...****************************So i was with my fiance in hollywood just grabbing a hot dog at skoobys, when i saw the shop. So i looked around and was very impressed by the selection of quality brands. So much so i returned the following weekend bought a roor an ash catcher and a bag, they gave me a great discount for buying all at once.I then just went back there on tuesday 6/02/09 and bought a new ashcatcher down tube and bowl for my pretty little roor. And of course i was met with great service they let me put water in the ashcatcher and test it, answered my many many questions and gave me a great price.I love this smoke shop so much so i pretty much only buy from them and they are an hour drive from my house.Thanks guys for great service and great products! now go order me a roor carbon filter system!http://img200.imagesha...

Midnight on the dark side of tinsel town.  I knew there was only one place for Nat Shermans - Mike's Smoke Shop.I slipped in off Hollywood Boulevard from the cool night air, where my head exploded with the scent of incense and fresh paint.  Mike had just expanded the pad, and not in a little way.  No, it was a big spread now, a carnival of colorful glass pipes and such.  Equipment for abusing the mind and body in more ways than you've ever seen, and a staff who knows their stuff.  Plus rows and rows of every kind of foofy  smoke you could ever dream of - cloves, imports, whatever.  "Two packs of Fantasias."The guy snorted as he picked the gold boxes off the shelf.  "I'd never've figured you for Shermans, Father."  Must have been funny to him; must have thought I'd laugh or something.  I just gave him the money cold, took the sticks, and headed back to the street to find that skater with the cracked cast."Didn't mean anything, buddy, really," he called after me. Don't read me wrong - Mike's is a great place, open from ten in the morning 'til one ayem every night of the week.  The go-to guy when it's pushing midnight and you need that nicotine sucked through something other than what the big boys dump into every mom and pop dime-store on earth.But that's how it is down here at night, in Hollywood.  You never know by looking at a guy what he's really after.- Father Fang

Great Spot. 1. Huge Selection of brands and styles. 2. Great service; very friendly and laid back. Ask for Radhika or Linda, trust me on this one. 3. No pressure to buy and no hesitation to pull out several pieces. 4. Sales up to 50% off. 5. Good vibes. I could not have asked for a better experience with a smoke shop. If this place was a Cannabis Club it would have it all. The good reputation is deserved.

Mikes is a cool shop! It has neat and unique goods for the connoisseur toker. I copped a cool roor kinked bowl for my boss but thats besides the fact. They have specialty goods which i've never seen before.. ANYWHERE.. go check it out.. makes smoking healthy! Another reason this place is worth checking out is the collection of pieces they have...sickest line of roors and illadelph and i was also introduced to hi-si..Sick i tell ya, SICK! BTW, ask about Black Mist Hookah Lounge!
