It's the better of the two battling hookah cafes in Westwood. I expected their food to taste like meow mix, but it was actually very delicious. The hummus is better than average. The beef shawarma is an excellent dinner option. It comes with sliced beef, rice, hummus and pita bread (makes for a great beef pita taco). I'd have to say the chicken counterpart is a little dry though. Their chicken tequila pasta and thai pasta (a little sweet) are good choices too. All main dishes are around $10 - $15. Or you can just come here and enjoy some wine, beer, chai tea and cappuccino.I really like the double apple hookah flavor. But the service is not so good. The place gets really crowded and sometimes it's hard to talk over the loud music (traditional Arabic.)

Do they really have to play the music that loud? I could not stand it in there..I am reminded of the time my grandfather asked the waiter to turn down the music at the Hard Rock Cafe. I am an old bat.

Hoooookah!! *cough cough*My friend and I came here to smoke out, err.. I mean, smoke hookah. I've only done this once or twice before in my life, so still a newbie at it. We had the pina colada flavor and it was pretty good. For some reason, I just couldn't smoke without getting the shiet in my lungs!! I inhale and immediately start coughing! Man.. it reminds me of some times back in the dayz...My gf told me not to get it in my throat. Hmm.. so, when I inhaled slowly, it wouldn't bubble and no smoke came out my nose. Argh!! Oh wells.. I still had fun. Puff, puff, give. BTW, do not order the Kamikaze drink. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. Sour and without a hint of alcohol, and $10! What?? Blech!

GREAT TOMATO SOUP!!!!Gypsies is known for their incredible hookah, but I would like to take a moment to highlight how amazing their food is!! It's a perfect mix of American and Middle Eastern. The dishes look familiar (Turkey Sandwich) but with a special twist. I highly recommend their lunch menu~ they have amazing prices. Outside of the lunch menu, the rest of the time it's a bit over-priced to pair correctly with the over-priced hookah. Two things I ordered:Creamy tomato soup with a turkey sandwich on perfectly toasted french bread. A slightly crunchy falafal wrap with friesCheck out more pictures on:http://fattiedelights....Came here on a baaaad day. There was a Twilight movie premiere right across the street and a gazillian young girls were mobbing screaming on the sidewalk, but my friend really wanted to come here so we squeezed through the dense pack of fans and made it to the entrance. Only ordered salads and soup and pita bread and hummus.I would come back for the TOMATO SOUP $7. The salads $10 and hummus+pita bread was decent, but what really stood out was the tomato soup with bread. If only they served grilled cheese with it, it'd be PERFECT.10/19/20Turkish Coffee $5Napoleon $5I decided to get my mid-day snack at 5 pm. The Turkish coffee was just what I needed it paired with the Napoleon perfectly. Sitting on the sidewalk allow the sunset to shine on me while I enjoy my coffee and creamy pastry.I would have to come back and try their dishes and hookah next time.I'm very satisfied with this place:) Im a sucker for anything mediterranean. My friend and I wanted to try some shishkabob on pita bread so we went in here. we got seated quickly for a place that was pretty crowded on a friday night. it's a hookah bar/restaurant so side outside if u dont want to smell. i ordered the shiskabob on pita bread with a side of hummus. it was DELICIOUS. next time i should try the tomato soup with a salad. definitely a must-go if you're in the westwood areaThis was only my second hookah experience and it was good. The Hookah was pretty cheap (split between 6 people only cost $3 per person) and it kept going for along time. The server was friendly and was able to help us newbies along in our hookah decision. There's food and a full bar too. Didn't have any food, the wine I had was okay but definitely overpriced (but of course it's Westwood). My only real gripe is the service was slow at times just because there was basically 2 servers for the whole cafe. Also, parking in the area can be tough unless you want to pay (or just get extremely lucky). We'll probably come back when we feel like another hookah.

The tomato soup is the best I've ever had. The hummus, which comes with many of the dishes, is also really good. My wife loves the Greek salad - this is the only place that she lets them put dressing on the saladI mostly get takeout from here. I always wait forever when I go inside to pick it up, so I've taken to calling from my cell phone and having them bring it out to the curb. I would advise bringing exact change for this strategy - again to avoid the slow service

Waited outside for 30 mins for a table, then we found out that we could just sit anywhere outside in the patio whenever there was a table available...bleh...The food was EXCEPTIONAL, I think we ordered the veggie platter, the hummus was to die for. The Hookah was good also, the service was slow but good considered that the place was so packed. They changed the charcoal relatively fast, so it was good. We didn't go inside because it was too crowded, so I wasn't sure what went on inside.

After returning, I'm giving it three stars. The service when you're sitting outside is really lackluster. The food is good, but not as great as the previous dish I reviewed. The service is what really brings it down, though. I can dig this place. Best hookah/food atmosphere and combination in Westwood. I tried this place…

Walking through Westwood on a hazy 420, I peered through the veil of smoke at Gypsy. Kim, my server for the evening, greeted me at the door and invited us in for drinks. She quickly offered us hooka, suggesting "white grape" and guava as the flavor. Kim looks to be 5'9", 102 lbs, with a perfect hourglass figure. She is a bit "top heavy" if you catch my drift. Kim's smile matches her outgoing and gregarious personality. The atmosphere at Gypsy is far superior to that of the hookah bar across the street, Habibi. The layout is friendly and the music is just low enough so I didn't have to shout across my table to be heard. The dim lighting provided for a laid back feeling. Gypsy has a good selection of food. My personal favorites are their hummus and kabobs. They also have a fantastic tomato soup; rich and creamy, served with a french baguette. The drinks are well poured, though could be lowered in price slightly. I come to this hookah bar time and time again due to the amazing service provided by its wait staff. Kim was unbelievably attentive. Not only did she take care of my table, she ensured that the needs of the neighboring tables were being more than met. If you find yourself in Westwood seeking hookah make sure you visit Gypsy. You will be rewarded with a great staff, tasty food, and some damn good hookah.
