People Don't Care They're Smoking BBQ Coals by mrhookah

Wow, I'm surprised this place gets such a huge crowd. You have Cafe O next door but this place is always full! You have a nice mixture of people here. Guys and girls, good to people watch, have some alcohol, eat some food, and smoke. It's right next door to a big indoor parking lot.

Here's the negative and it's a big one especially for smokes. The coals are the same ones you use in the BBQ Grills!! They have huge bags of BBQ coals that they're cooking up to put on your hookahs. These are the WORSE hookah coals I've ever smo
ked. I think they should be banned for smoking or have some type of warning 'You will get cancer quicker smoking this'. The coals turn to ash instantly and that's what you end up smoking.

Anyways good for people watching, alcohol, meeting people, but bad for smokes. I gotta go below average here.

Where have you been all my life.  so i went to school in burbank for FOUR WHOLE YEARS and it wasn't until my 21st birthday that i enjoyed the excellent hookah.  it a really CHILL PLACE to enjoy a cig and some welled made drinks for mid-range prices, in a group of four 20 bucks can get you at least two round of hookah and a strong adios, midori, long island, whatever you heart's desire.  although lots of people like fruity hookah, if you want more authentic taste i love rose mint they might have somthing like three kings there too and i have heard that their special is awesome.  for the guys, the girls here are much more friendly and really gorgeous compared to other places.  for the girls, eh, i wouldn't necessarily go man hunting here unless that your crowd.  it IS a lovely girls night out place.  im probably there every week, so ill see you there fellow yelpers.  ps:  i have no idea what the food tastes like.

their food is okay. ii wnted their seared ahi but they ran out. you have to hve a drink when you come here hookah. the girls are hot, walking around in blck tops black booty shorts with black boots. their food is whatever, but if you're there to hookah, it's a nice place. they have a really pretty inside for the "group" hookah if you hookah outside it's nice. if you get hungry just eat at wahoo's across the street first, of if you're craving sushi there is a 24hour sushi place. haha.

puff puff pass. puff puff...puff. *SMACK* don't screw up the rotation!Cafe. Hookah. Waitresses. Come to think of it, man I haven't been here in ages...but I guess I'll write up a review. This is a really chill hookah cafe with plenty of outdoor seating in addition to the few tables inside the cramped bar area. They serve kabobs, burgers, etc but most customers come for the hookah. Now hookah is a middle eastern practice of smoking shisha (tobacco dipped in molasses, which is a thick flavored syrup). It's smoked in a glass pipe that stands about 2-4 feet in length from the floor. It's usually smoked from a long hose that connects to the glass pipe. Charcoal burns the tobacco and carmelizes the molasses, giving a rich and sweet smoke. Damn, my lungs are gurgling from writing this up, lol. I personally own a hookah and know a good deal on how to properly smoke it even though i'm asian, lol. There's a one drink minimum if you choose to get a hookah. I'd recommend some fruit juice because it goes well with the sweet smoke from the hookah. The Gitana special uses fruit juice instead of water in the glass pipe and a special mix of fruit flavored tobacco which is really smooth. In general, this is a fun place to relax, smoke hookah, and catch up with friends.

i have been a patron of Gitana's for years...i think maybe since somewhere around 2001-2002.when i first started going here, me and the friends would roll in about 15-20 DEEP and take up all the tables. checks were always fat checks. we dropped and continue to drop $$ there.the service has slowed down slightly i think because of the younger servers they have now. wait times are kinda heavy for a hookah and some dishes, but other then that, its still my favorite hookah spot.

I only came here to smoke hookah... I've been here a grand total of 2 times... the first time I came here was to try it out... the second time I came here was because I lost a bet. Here are some things I would avoid from this place:Everything. The serviced sucked big balls. The food was as tasty as orphanage food. The atmosphere is as dead as a cemetery. The only thing going for this place is their hookah. I do give it to them for their smart business scheme... if you only order hookah, you have to get a minimum order of like $10. That's how they push their crappy food onto the consumers.. to shay Mr. Gitana... to shay.

A friend of mine is in a bellydancing class. Her teacher was performing at this location. For $12 dollars you get a show and middle eastern buffet. 1. Bad food. The food is sitting out in warming trays all night. The food is already over cooked, and to leave it out makes it, that much more inedible.2. So-So service.3. It's really dark in side. For some reason, all the restaurants in Burbank, prefer to keep their restaurants really dark inside. This place is no exception. Perhaps, they're trying to hide something in the food?!Go somewhere else, your hard earned money is worth more than this place. The other downside, is there's a whole lot of shady people, hanging around outside smoking hookah's.

I really like this place.  That being said...I've only gone during "off hours" I think.  I usually show up on Sunday nights or Saturday nights around 11:00 pm.  We just sit outside, smoke the flavored tabacco and eat some of the yummy mediterranean appetizers that they offer.  Oh and of course a hot cup of tea since it can get chilly outside.  Sometimes they'll have an old basketball game on the projection screen against the brick wall outside.  That can be entertaining.  The waitresses are friendly, although sometimes difficult to get their attention.  Overall, I'm a big fan of this place.  We usually park on the street, but you can park in the public parking garage if you'd like too.  There is indoor seating for the restaurant, but I've never actually been inside longer than a few seconds (to ask for a table outside).
