I use yelp a lot but have yet to be inspired to write a review until I got my hair cut by Yohey at Sweet 9. He is amazing! He spent a lot of time carefully cutting my hair and after drying and styling it, spent even more time perfecting the cut. He really wanted my hair to look good when he finished. I was thrilled with the results and his prices are reasonable- $60. I have finally found the stylist I'm going to stick with in LA!

I recently moved to WeHo, and needed my hair cut pretty badly. I have had a tendency to be a salon slut - I have never had my hair done by the same person more than 3 times. However, I'm pretty sure I can make a commitment.I had looked at a few nearby salons on Yelp with similar ratings, and it may seem silly, but I chose Sweet 9 because 9 is my number. I called them on Wednesday (6/10) before noon, and got an appointment for 3pm that day with the owner, Dawn.Dawn was very nice on the phone, very helpful about how to find the salon since I said I had never been before. She was also very friendly when I got there. The atmosphere was really laid back.I explained to Dawn that I was trying to grow out my bangs and just needed a few inches off my length. She knew exactly what I was looking for. My request was fairly simple, but what was great was that Dawn was able to get my hair to fall exactly the way I wanted it to. Oh- and the price was completely reasonable! I had a great experience with Dawn and Sweet 9, and I will definitely be going back for my next haircut.

this place is pretty much what i was looking for. it's like a little tiny place with so much to offer. it's vivrant and doesn't have the typical feel of a hair salon. you know other places just makes you feel like you're in a cafeteria line. bright walls. dark furniture. no personality. sweet 9 is the complete opposite. they have a warm, homey feel inside. dawn was awesome. i had a fun time just talking while she cut away my helmet hair. the prices are reasonable and average. if you want change, sick of the same haircut your stylist keeps giving, and want to go somewhere that listens to you- sweet 9 is where it's at. they also do massages and everything in between. next time i'll try the tea room!thanks dawn! definitely coming back

Yohey is great! I am a very lazy person who hardly ever cuts her hair. He made it look pretty again, and I'm a fan because he's a perfectionist.

I've had my hair cut and colored several times by Dawn, the owner of Sweet 9 salon. She did the cut and color in my profile picture. I would recommend her to anyone. She's stylish, sweet, and was ambitious enough to take on removing black dye from hair almost to my waist. Her short cuts are awesome; I've had my layered bob complimented by so many people. The dyes seem to fade out must faster than I would like, but then again I have been going varying shades of red. The color looks amazing for around 1-2 weeks. The decor of this salon is really hip and the layout of the place is very cool. Dawn also brews up some really tasty teas and serves them to you in fancy dishware while you wait for your color to set. The music is great, too. Protip: Don't park on Melrose, as you are likely to get a ticket for going overtime. A better option is free parking on the side streets north of Melrose that aren't permit-only.

Liz is the best ever! And not just because she's my friend and saved me after the hair fire incident. Really. Great cuts, super style, and she's cute and smart, too!

Gay guys and straight chicks both compliment me on my rad color every time I leave Sweet 9. Dawn is a color genius. The prices are great. There is yummy music and rockin' tea. My hours spent in Dawn's capable hands are relaxing and fun. This place totally does NOT suck in any way.

So I have been religiously going to the same place to get my haircut for the past 13 years, however, my stylist is in Santa Barbara, and with growing gas prices, it was just no longer worth it to take my gas guzzler up there for a cut. Sad, BUT, this story has a happy ending. After going onto yelp and reading reviews I thought I'd give Sweet 9 a shot- and the price was right let me tell you! $55 (compared to the $120 I got quoted at elsewhere!)So, I called Sweet 9 and talked to Dawn- the rest is history.First of all, let me just say that Dawn was incredibly friendly, and funny, and a total joy to be around. Not to mention I brought in a few pictures of what I wanted and she SERIOUSLY kicked ass. Also, considering Dawn's creds, she could be charging MUCH more for a cut, but has a great philosophy about what a haircut should cost. On the whole: the salon is adorable, I felt right at home (I even got tea!), the price was right, AND I got the BEST HAIRCUT I've had in years!Thank god for Dawn. Thank you Sweet 9!

Sweet 9 is a little upstairs salon on Melrose decorated in a sort of Victorian goth mix. Attached to the salon is an amazing tea room that reminds me of a hookah tent (minus the hookah).Liz is an incredible colorist and gives a great cut. In fact, I almost hate to post this review because I don't want her to get too busy! She does everything from subtle suburban to spunky urban to -- well, as far out as you want to go.
