Starbucks Coffee

With over 5 million coffee shops in LA,  Matt was at this Starbucks 3 straight days (4 trips total) of his time down there. This Starbucks is 24 hours and is less than 10 minutes away from Matt's hotel. Matt is an early bird and love his cup of joe in the morning. Matt hates the Starbuck's Franchise, but this coffee shop is big and quiet with no music at the early morning hours. Matt chilled there for awhile enjoying his cup of coffee, having a tasty Almond Croissant and read the LA paper; also he was observing the type of people and crowd that comes in/out of here.

Coffee is decent at best, the ice drinks are great, and the atmopshere....  The atmosphere is well, busy.  If people think they are going to have an intellectual conversation like in the movies well you are sadly mistaken.The prices are a bit high for the small portions, and most of the coffee is over roasted.  The problem I have with this place is that its a bit too close to the local community college, and people like to use it as there own private bathroom.  Did I mention there is only one restroom?  Pretty hard if you just ate the wrong thing and somebody is already in it.The only other thing I can think of is that it has nice relaxing music(when you can hear it) and the seats are comfortable(when seating is available.)

"It's me, Coffee Girl...and I'm no longer in love with you any more..."Mike L. once pointed out to people that I sorta have a Starbucks/Yelp problem since over 10% of my reviews are different Starbucks locations and my best list is "Secrets of (milking) Starbucks..." But, now I don't love Starbucks any more...at all.  I'm fed up...cold...heartless...I used to defend the Starbucks franchise having studied their Harvard Business case in school and having also been a barista...I have converted legions of coffee fans into Starbucks fans and have defended every part of the business model, even the drop in stock value....Like all that I love, I declared undying loyalty to you.  But now?  You've fallen out of my graces so you better watch out....Let's break up and never call each other again... I HATE YOU.  This particular Starbucks is one of the worst offenders.  I ordered an iced coffee at 2 pm which is one of the simplest drinks at one of the slowest hours of the day last Saturday. There is no excuse for messing up.  Know what one of their kidrista's (you're not good enough to be called a barista...) did?  He filled a tall cup full to the brim of ice first (wrong!), and then poured in 2 INCHES of coffee from the fridge that had ice in it (obviously made wrong because there shouldn't be ice in it and iced coffee should be shaken!!! wrong again!!!), and then filled up the rest with fucking water! (wrong!!!! too much water!!!) After picking up my drink, I asked him how he brewed the ice coffee and whether he made it correctly.  He started to give me some lame excuses so I cut him off with one look and said, "I used to be a barista.  I know how it should be brewed and poured.  You just made it poorly because there were only 2 inches of coffee and you didn't want to make more...It probably tastes watery..."  He then looks sheepish because he knows that I'm right and says, "You're right, I'll make you an Americano.."  WTF?  Did you fail coffee school too?  All baristas know there is a taste and caffeine difference between iced coffee and iced americanos.  He then tries to take my drink back while I'm still holding it!!! FAIL!!!In my day, we would never let a drink like that even cross the bar....So, Starbucks, don't call me and I'm blocking you on Facebook.  I will gladly go with anyone who would like to help me defect and find new coffee shops....

Like the world needs another Starbucks review.  Whatever.I used to frequent this Starbucks to meet up with girlfriends back when it was cool to drink Starbucks, before the backlash.  Maybe that's why I'll never be able to hate Starbucks.  I've always been a White Chocolate Mocha girl.  And in the warm temps I like to make it a Frap.  Yesterday I went the Caramel Frap route and wasn't disappointed.  $4 for a delicious caffeine fix.  Although if you're meeting up here to do some boy/girl bashing I'd recommend finding another Starbucks...too many happy couples stop by.  =)

I've never been to a perfect Starbucks, but this is definitely my choice when I'm jonesing for some coffee or tea.  They're always happy to fix my order when they mess up, and they even give me the drink they mess up on.  It's usually pretty crowded so I would suggest that you not try and study here, but at least there aren't any homeless people who consider this place home (see the Starbucks on Garvey and San Gabriel for that.)I also love that this place is open late!  Most of the other Starbucks in this area close around 10, but this one is usually open til midnight (or later) on the weekends.  I hate that the hours aren't posted on here, so I always have to call to make sure I'm right haha.EDIT:  Love the Starbucks iPhone app:  Fridays and Saturdays, they're open til 12:30 pm.  Sundays until 11:30 pm, and every other night they're open til midnight.  :)

my ex gf used to work at this starbucks and man oh man she would hook me up with breakfast sandwiches, white mochas, and more! haha customers would notice and smirk :P suckas.  i wanna get the record straight, i purchased more often than i recieved freebees.  hmmm they used to have comfortable ikea furniture outside but they're gone now bahhh oh and there's never a dull moment bc i witnessed so many things here such as a man running down atlantic square barefoot after stealing dvds from blockbuster, people bringing hookah bongs and smoking right in front of the establishment, baristas drinking ice blended alcoholic green apple frappucinos and distributing them to regular customers such as myself and more! yeah i tell ya, this starbucks is EPIC. i miss going here but nahhh i found another cool one here in santa monica that's cozy and close to my job :DD
