This is a great little market. You can find stuff you wouldn't find in the big supermarkets. They're always very friendly there. One time I didn't have enough change and the lady told me not to worry about it!

I usually go here to buy a lot of my fruits and veggies, which are often much cheaper tan the supermarket and often of better quality i.e. most of it seems locally grown. I also like to go through their middle-east food section and buy stuff like baba ganoush, dolmas, and olives.

I love buying fresh chicken and ground beef here and it is packaged to order!  I don't buy these items anywhere else!  I usually stop in every two to three days and pick up what I immediately need.  I do wish that they had more fresh meats to choose from because I would like to be able to buy all of my meat from this place! The prices for chicken breasts are unbeatable by near supermarkets (uhem).  The prices for fresh fruit and veggies are a little less than area supermarkets as well. The staff are super friendly and the store has a very local and personal feel.  If you like friendly and fresh and staying out of corporate america, then this is the place to shop!

Sandwiched in between a Goodwill and a Salvation Army, the Artesia International Produce Market was an accidental find during a lunchtime of fruitless thrift-shopping. The market has a diverse selection of products from around the world, mostly middle eastern and eastern European items. The produce department makes up about 20% of the store -- the rest is packaged goods you've never seen anywhere else. Jarred berries from Bulgaria, every type of olive ever cultivated, fresh-baked sweets and cookies, and a thousand varieties of canned goods of varying vintage.Like every small specialty market, a fair amount of the products bear faded labels and a layer of dust. Pick your items wisely, however, and you'll be more than satisfied. My shopping bag consisted of sour cherry preserves (fantastic with plain yogurt), Borjomi mineral water from Georgia (slightly salty, like weak Alka-Seltzer, but very soothing and with alleged curative powers), and a Kinder Surprise egg. For pure alimentary shock value, the Artesia International Produce Market can't compare to, say, the Santa Ana Guatemalan mini-mart where I bought canned iguana, but I'll definitely be back.

5/16/08 Update: The banana from this place doesn't have that mildew aftertaste, just clean fruit taste. Most banana's have this mildew-like taste, similar to stale water form soaking vegetables (You can smell this at some supermarkets where water stands still for a lengthy period).  I've bought organic bananas but still had the mildew taste.  K, enough about bananas, good night. This is a rare mom and pop grocery store (for me anyway). And I support it, meaning I'm all for it.  Why? Fresh fruits and vegetables, decent selections, friendly service, the open market feel, very nice (One minor gripe is the long isle way, not easy to hop from isle to isle but no biggie I'm spoiled is all).  But mainly because this is no dilapidated, waiting to die kind of store. Someone cares about this place and puts a lot of hard work into it and it shows.

Persimmons, cilantro, chutney, curry, lamb, rice, and hookahs.  This market has it all. They have specialty items for mostly middle eastern food but they also have some asian and mexican products.  They have a meat section, a lot of fruits and vegatables, a dairy cooler as well as some cleaning products and misc items.  There prices are great and the people that work there and the owner are very friendly.  Located on the South/West corner of Artesia and MackayArtesia Market NewsTAI partners with Artesia Market for test marketing ethnic products in Redondo Beach, CaliforniaArtesia Market is a leading ethnic retailer in the South Bay region of Los Angeles and has agreed to serve as a test market for TAI clients.
