I've been here about three times for lunch, and each time it's been a disappointment. Not sure how bland you can make a turkey and cheese sandwich, but Modica's has mastered that. The sandwiches aren't great considering how much you pay for them. You're better off going to the Subway about 3 blocks away if you want a sandwich.

I was putting off writing a review for this place because I wanted to go back and try their pastas, but what the hell...So far so good. I'm looking forward to trying just about everything on the menu that doesn't have a face.I had a really rad sandwich called The Linden. It was a yummy, soft and toasty baguette filled with goat cheese, roasted red peppers, romaine lettuce and pesto. I asked them to add mushrooms and all was good on this Earth for those 15 minutes in which I inhaled my sammich. Yeah, I have teeth and all, but I decided not to chew. Chewing is overrated.Very tasty stuff. I think I would have preferred something fancy like arugula instead of romaine, but I'm just being a jerk and trying to find something I don't like about this place. I am totally digging their garlic bread which was the same bread blanket that lovingly wrapped my peppers and cheese. It was warm and toasty, soft on the inside, crispy on the outside. How does this miracle of bread happen? *Shrug* Hell if I know, but I'm stuffin' this thing into the hole in my face now. They have an assortment of sides like marinated mushrooms (drool), asparagus, Caprese salad, pasta salads galore, and a bunch of other stuff that I didn't check out because I was distracted by butter cookies...Mmmm... cookies...What was I saying? Oh yeah, I think I've found a new best friend.

I moved our office from the WTC down to Shoreline Square and as new tenants Modica's was recommended rather quickly.  I have only had the warm lunches and they have been great every time.  I will keep going back.  My only constructive point for them is a lot of the warm stuff tends to taste the same, but it is a good taste.  The desserts are ok, nothing too great, but will satisfy certain cravings.

I've been a customer for a few years now and their sandwiches are pretty damn good and their portions are big.  I usually order their roast beef, turkey, or combo sandwiches and all are great.  I've never had a bad sandwich here before.  Their prices are cheap for the quality you're getting.  Their service is fast and friendly.  Parking can be hard during normal lunch hours, but that's because you can get an 18-inch good tasting sub for a little over $8.00.  That's an awesome deal!

I work in the arts district and when I feel like eating a good sandwich, I usually make that call to Modica's.  They know me by name even if i order on the phone.  I love the soup, so simple and filling and it comes with bread.  I have had almost everything on the menu. I recently had the pastrami sandwich and I think I like it.  I have also had the chicken sandwich, with mustard and I enjoyed it.  I have also had the pasta dinners and they are pricey but they come with garlic bread and a mixed green salad and it is really filling.  The Orangina is huge (that's what he said).

I love their meatball sandwiches.  Yuum.  My mouth is watering just thinking about eating one.I always order the meatball sandwich and then I try one of their sides.  So far, all the sides have been really tasty and fresh.  And I love that they have Stewart's black cherry soda.  I'm a black cherry soda lover.

The food overall was good.  I did not quite like the meatball sandwich, but enjoy the chicken bowtie.  The pasta salad was quite refreshing too. However, I got a to-go order one time, the foam container melt due to the hot tempature.  This is very unhealthy and unsafe (sauce could leak out).  They should put hot food in aluminum container.  I think they put profit first, customer second.6 out of 10.I was just IN Long Beach and spent some time there - as my itinerary had it I was passing by "Modica's" quite frequently in the early evening hours....I saw the EXACT same thing EACH and every time I passed by this place.  Now good Yelp Readers THIS is quite a stunning "observation" indeed.  Oh they had bright lights on, signs out on the street advertising they were "open"  and both of the stupid doors (that cause SUCH a bad cross breeze - I see the owner is STILL too "cheap" to use the air conditioning when its necessary the doors were WIDE OPEN even at night....but guess what???  EVERY time I looked in they had ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMERS EVERY  TIME I PASSED BY !!!!!! Whats even BETTER - that nasty bitch that viciously snapped at my boyfriend last time we were there was doing nothing but wiping tables with NO CUSTOMERS !! ha ha!  I guess some things just "never change" do they???   Ha ha hahahahahahahahahhahahahahha ha ha ha !!! LOOKS GOOD ON YOU GUYS!!!  I guess with their "stunning" CUSTOMER SERVICE word is getting around........... Looks good on you assholes!  I can see you are "busier-than-ever" !!! Hello Everyone If I could it would be ZERO STARS !!!I WOULD NOT SET FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!! I… I had take out from this place once with a big group of people and it was way mediocre. My boyfriend and I split an East Coast Hoagie and a corned beef sandwich. Both were not good. They weren't inedible, gross or anything but not tasty, not well-constructed, not well balanced in flavors, and not tasty ingredients. Mediocre bread, ingredients and poor construction. The only thing stopping me from never getting food here again is that the other members of our party (about 5 other people) all had tasty looking and smelling food. They all got hot sandwiches. Apparently, the bf and I didn't get the "hot food only" memo on how to order from this place. The meatball sandwichs and chicken parm, etc all looked and smelled yummy. I'd consider giving this place a shot if I am craving a meatball sub. Otherwise, skip it!Get here before noon to avoid lunch madness.  The line goes out the door, but it's worth the wait.  Greek and Italian menu with more than a dozen sandwich offerings, pasta salads, and hot pastas.  The "small" sandwich is a foot long, on a nice, fresh roll.  I don't even know what the large looks like!  All sandwiches are served with pepperoncini on the side and really nice large tasty tomatoes.  I've tried the Italian sub, meatball sandwich, gyro, and your classic turkey -- all great options.Nice desserts -- chocolate suicide, red velvet, yummy!Great outdoor seating... except for the long wait, this place is great for lunch.

Had the mozzarella, pesto and olive sandwich, greek salad, caprese salad and the green bean salad. One of my stars is based on the quality of mozzarella.  It was awesome.  The pesto was tasty...other than that pretty mediocre.  The green bean salad was horrible...probably just old...who knows.Entertainment club discount.

I worked in Long Beach for 10 yrs and introduced many of my friends to Modica's and they all loved it.  I must of had lunch there 100 times. The Hot Pastrami sandwich is the best I've ever had. I find it's not worth ordering at other places because I always compare it to Modica's. The lunch time service is very hectic and service is somewhat like the Soup Nazi on Sienfield. But it's so busy during lunch time, that this, along with getting a free table is something you get used to and put it aside just to get at the Pastrami. Hey, If the workers get too chatty with customers, the line would never move like it does. Also try the Chicken Parmesan sandwich, it's my second choice.

When my office is hungry and we don't want to eat in our own cafeteria.... this is such a great option that is healthy.  Best thing is that they deliver! Call early though just as a courtesy to the restaurant before they are slammed w/ lunch orders.
