Oh my gosh this place might just qualify for the greatest place on earth!  I have been coming here since high school, and was fortunate enough to go to college nearby as well.  Even though I moved to Philadelphia last year for school, I was still on their email list and would periodically salivate when I would get the email about their latest specials.  Everything on their menu is incredible, but if you're a newby I'd start off with the gyro, which is definitely the staple.  Their lamb and feta cheese sandwhich is also incredible.  I would definitely wash it down with their house wine, and make sure to order hummus and pita, or their meatpies as well for an appetizer.  Their baklava is also amazing and the service is always so nice.  With any luck, Papa Cristos himself (a cartoon character come alive) will be the one to take your order!!P.S.  I've also been to the Thursday night dinner, and it is definitely a blast!

Truly this is my fave Greek food place in town. It is far for me. I will go if I want to drive out there just to have the most tasty Greek food ... cheaper than taking a plane ride to Greece. You know it is so good that I cannot describe ... so you will just have to go there and try everything.I am also a big olive fan ... best olives!!!What are you waiting for just go =D

4.5 stars. I have a really hard time with a perfect 5. It is probably the trauma I suffered as an English major, in under grad, with Professor always saying "there's never such thing as a perfect paper." The food is great here, I felt like we tried to eat the whole menu in one sitting. We had their Gyros dinner plate, their lamb plate, hummus, their root beer (their own brand, and SO good!), root beer float, baklava (sp?), the tart with custard, and to top it all off greek coffee.  (FYI: greek coffee costs about $2 and you get about 2 or 3 oz? Pretty small cup, but tastes great, and by the time I got to it, I was glad that it was so small). The prices are pretty good, the lamb plate with three pieces was about ($16) which is amazing! All their food was good, but I think the lamb was especially great, because lamb is hard to do well.I've had lamb in all sorts of restaurants, from $50 plates to $16 at papa cristos.  And Papa Cristos makes better lamb!Service is friendly, you order first and they bring you the food. After that, it is waiter service style. Tips go in a jar by the entrance/exit, and the tips are shared equally. Oh, and of course, we had left overs! :-)

Ever since I came here several week ago, I haven't been able to stop raving about this place. I even tell strangers at sushi bars about it. Why do I do that? I have no idea. I'm just crazy.Anyway, PAPA CRISTOS is super cool. He's this short little man who roams around the restaurant greeting people and making them feel welcome. It's not a typical restaurant. It's more cafe style inside a Greek market. The food is surprisingly good. All the meats were very tender (my favorite is the gyros) and the Pita bread is to DIE DIE DIE for!!! I can live without their pizzas though. Get the rootbeer. It's Papa Christo's own brand. The price is a bit high for the dinner/larger portions (between $12-$16), but it's WORTH IT!!! MMMMM you'll love their tzatziki. Side note: They have this thing called "My Big Fat Greek Dinner" Thursdays where they have family style dinner and Greek entertainment. I haven't been but it sounds like fun.I was introduced to Papa Cristos by a colleague.  The food is delicious.  I love the lamb kabobs.  It also has parking in the rear, which is good to know because it's hard to find parking in this neighborhood.we went here because they are offering a free meal for those people who celebrates their birthday on October! So here i am lined up with my friend taking advantage of that shit and we ordered some extra pizza. One thing that sucks is that they charged us twice for our corkage but we only have 1 bottle of wine that we brought. I was like whatever we got free entrees. I don't know how come this place is famous. They got good pastries though. but i will not even go back here for their entree. but i might for some shit that's hard to find cause they have a mini grocery store. shut up!Papa Cristos for the win. Most of the reviews on here already hit the highlights: awesome gyros, the mousakka is amazing, great bakery, cool environment but a bit expensive. Flat out, this place is a go-to as finding food this hearty and pure is a challenge in LA.

Yummy healthy greek food! Its a no frills environment- order your food, seat yourself, get your own water, picnic tables in a big hall with extra bright flourecent lights. we ordered the spicy kabob sandwich- it wasnt spicy at all but still good, and the veggie mousaka- we were bummed we actually wanted the meat mousaka but they didnt have it available last night. BUT on the upside it was my bf's birthday last week and IF YOU HAVE A BIRTHDAY IN NOVEMBER YOU GET YOUR MEAL FOR FREE!!! I didnt mention it untill after i paid becuase i wasnt sure about it and i just asked the super nice man ringin me up if it was true and he said YES you should have told me- he actually credited my card back for my boyfriends entire meal! Fun low key environment with live music too!OH and they give you a fun little greek sheet and before your done paying papa cristo jr. i think says "here go learn greek" :D

Been a fan for years.  Never wrote a review, because I knew others would do them good.  But, I must say this - if someone were to ask what the #1 LA venue to eat...it's here.  The biggest bang for your buck.  I always order the the cheese tomatoes fig appetizer.  Then it's the Gyro plate.  All yum yum!  Don't be a douche bag.  Be adventurous and travel east of LaBrea.  Plenty of parking on their lot.

"Let's drink!" Alright -- I guess I'll have some wine with you crazy Greek man with the wheels of culinary delight constantly churning in your head. For I know, that you have plans for me. Plans that involve more food than I or all of Penelope's suitors could handle. So this fellow, nephew of the famed "Papa Cristo," elaborated on the specific origins and methods that produced each wine as he parked his delicious Trojan horse of -- what the flyer called -- "Greek Family Dinner" in my future. Once I had my fill of not-so-crumbly, Sheep crafted Feta, Lemon Chicken, Olives of all sorts n sizes, Lamb, Pita pillows, Salad, Seasoned potatoes, Green Bean ala red sauce -- they insisted that I bring the small fortune of food back home (in very non-all-you-can-eat-place style).I should have sent Homer because I, my friends, am no poet. But complimentary wine, free dollar bills, belly dancers, L.A. Greek immigrant stories aside -- this was the best Greek food I have ever had.And I live in Athens. No, not really -- but I have been there, so that still says a lot. Thank Zues for Papa Cristo. Pious Alex will be back, nymph in tow.
