Food here is phenomenal. I always get the Soltani kabob, which is amazing. The only reason why it is not getting 5 stars is because it is a bit pricey. But the quality is great.

I'm so stuffed. Guess what we had for dinner tonight? Yaaaaay.I've tried several other Persian restaurants, and this is the one my family keeps coming back to. We've done take-out, and eaten in there a few times. I kind of wonder, though, if something's changed recently? There's something about the food that seems different. It's still good, but not the same. Not that it's a bad thing - if it were any more possible, the meats are even more buttery tender, but a tad saltier than before. But the service is still great, though - both for dining in and take out. They even offered to help me to my car when I ordered a whole lot of food to take home. Since proper terms have escaped my mind, I'm all about all the delicious, delicious rice dishes here. Not everything is available every day, so make sure to ask your server if it's available. My personal favorites are the one with lima beans and dill, as well as the one with lentils, dates, and currants. ... Honestly, I wish I could write more about the food, but I'm in such a food coma right now. Did I mention this place is great if you like having leftovers? Yeeeeah. You can park in the lot during the day, but at night, the lot becomes valet parking only. There's public parking down the block, too.

I had cornish hen tonite. It was pretty good. I went with my persian motorcycle riding buddy and according to him this is the best place in the valley. There's this funny armenian/persian waiter with a mustache that looks like muhammed jihad, Bakala! My friend said he's the "head" waiter. He doesn't do squat except walk around with his hands behind his back and ordering all the other waiters around. The only thing he does is pick up your money. If you've been here I'm sure you know who I'm talking about! hahaha They also have a one man band that plays around 7pm. We all thought it was the radio playing until he started playing louder. Then right when we were about to leave he did a mike shriek.... or feedback, whatever you call it. Almost blew out our eardrums. Then we started leaving and he said "I hope you not leaving because of me" My friend said "no, were already done" We passed another table on the way out and IMHO saw the prettiest persian girl I've ever seen. My friend says "you should go out with my wife next time she goes out with her friends" I'm thinking "hell yeah" Persian girls are hot... but they all look high maintenance. Tru or not?

Shirin is CRAZY GOOD Persian food for such an amazing price, I wish I lived in LA just so I could come here more often.Love the bread service, and it comes with raw onions which seemed kind of strange but tasted sooo good. My date and I each got an entree (chicken and beef kabobs) but we easily could have split one...the portions are ginormous (see pics). If you're looking for a romantic night out then Shirin is probably not for you. They normally have live music in the evenings which makes the restaurant pretty noisy and difficult to have a REAL conversation with someone.I love that they have a giant TV in the dining room, and it was awesome at first because they were playing the food channel so it was like, food sensory overload. MINUS A POINT for switching to election coverage, total barf. Politics and dinner do not mix, thank you very much.

Parking lot was a bit small for my taste... Had the Chicken Tender lunch special. The bread was good. It was accompanied with butter and onions. The lunch special came with soup. Unfortunately, I wasn't overwhelmed by it. The soup and the bread didn't go that great together anyways... Sorry, I'm a fan of bread into soup dipping! The food was better with hot sauce. Too bad it took a while for the server to drop off the hot sauce and by the time I got it, I was about 80% done with my mealGreat portion sizes, but spending over $10 for a lunch special is a little over my budget. Overall: good entree, small parking lot, soup is ok, and service is average

This place alllllmost got my first 5-star rating for their saffron rice alone. One star off for giving me some seriously funky dreams afterwards (and for the restaurant sometimes being a bit noisy). I have been here a couple times with teh BF's family, and every time the food is excellent. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I usually try to get something with a variety of meats, and everything has always been served hot, well-spiced, and cooked through but not overdone (I like my dead animals pretty rare, but there is nothing scarier than questionably-prepared meat). Service is kind of so/so. Nothing is specifically bad about it, but they're not exactly friendly and helpful, either. Have sometimes had to work pretty hard to flag someone down for a fresh glass of water. The bartender and maitre'd also tend to lurk around the front door, which can be kind of intimidating to walk into. Once you're seated, though, who really cares? Because the food is soooooo good! I have always left stuffed and satisfied, with enough leftovers for at least one more complete meal. Cheers, Shirin!

My very first experience with Persian food was at Shirin. I have to say I loved it. I ordered the CHICKEN KOOBIDEH with the LENTIL RICE (it also has raisins and dates!). The meat was moist and flavorful and the rice was to die for. The dish itself was huge and enough to feed me for three days. I highly recommend sharing, but, they charge you for it. So you might consider just planning for leftovers. It's just as good day 2. And 3. And 4.I love persian rice both for the texture of the rice itself as well as the excellently paired "mix-ins" giving sweetness and flavor. The other three rice options are pretty good but the lentil is always my favorite. **Keep in mind the main dishes just come with plain rice. They do charge $2.95 for the substitute rice but it is too good to pass up. I have tried many of the other chicken dishes as well (CORNISH HEN KABOB, BONELESS KABOB...) and Shirin really knows how to do it right. They are always so moist! I also love the eggplant appetizer too. Some thing I noticed no one else has commented on is Shirin's sanitation rating. Yup, its a B. I actually ate there about 5 times before I noticed the sign and to be honest I've been afraid to go back ever since. But in the spirit of getting the real information I did a little Google searching and discovered the LA County Public Health website. It states the following:90 to 100 points A Generally superior in food handling practices and overall food facility maintenance.80 to 89 points B Generally good in food handling practices and overall food facility maintenance.70 to 79 points C Generally acceptable in food handling practices and overall general food facility maintenance.0 to 69 points Score Poor food handling practices and overall general food facility maintenance. So really it doesn't seem quite as scary. They may not be "superior" but they are "good" and that just might be good enough for me to give it another go.

I was served the wrong item and when I told the waiter he said "No you got it, you said you wanted...." in a heavy accent. and then the manager came out, this really fat greasy guy, and brought me my lunch (correctly this time) but with his finger sticking right into the plate and in my food! Disgusting!!! I threw 20 bucks on the table and left
