Vanguard kicks ass. I went on a Saturday, with an itinerary hooked up by a friend who's an actress/bartender and totally had a blast. We got here at about midnight. Lines were long, the place was packed, but I had a number to call and the suit at the front of the entrance picked up. He said he was expecting us, and let us right through, no pat-down, no cover, just an ID check. Awesome. We were already pretty much wasted from Geisha House, where we pre-partied (again, hooked up by a bartender there), so I don't know if the drinks were expensive. They did have a hookah station and I got to sample some good pina colada flavored stuff.Inside, the place was deep house central. I almost had an SF rave flashback, it was that good. There's music outside with people dancing and hanging out and inside was the main floor. The vibe was pretty cool and the people were chill. I hate when I end up in a place were all the guys are testosteroned out and the girls are super defensive... this was not like that at all.Danced all night... had an awesome time. Can't wait to do it again.

This is my spot. Unbeatable really. First off, Marques Wyatt is a super dope DJ AND he's the resident DJ, it really doesn't get better than that. Above and beyond that, Sunday nights have a vibe unparalleled by any other club I've gone to. There really is every type of person there, no one judges you, no one tries to rub up on you. You can go in the most flamboyant, trashy or just-wear-your-jeans outfit and no one will flinch. Deep absorbs it all.If house is your thing, this is your place, I would say about every other weekend, there is some slammin DJ. Go Go Go. Just check any pretentiousness at the door, that's probably the only thing that there is low tolerance for here:)

Saturdays at Vanguard is a pretty dope. Although there can be a good amount of douche bags, there are a lot of honeys up in this club. The sound system in here is pretty sick with it. My ears is still ringing as I write this review. If you want to get your dance on, the main floor can be a challenge. This particular Saturday was really packed and felt it was hard to maneuver around the masses. Cool fact: Will.I.Am and Apl-D from the Black Eyed Peas were spotted here.

"Not everyone understands House Music; it's a spiritual thing; a body thing; a soul thing."[Track by Eddie Amador]All walks of life migrate to this amazing club. The music will take you to another mind set, another place, really. Marques Wyatt resident, is my favorite DJ ever. I have ALL of his CD's and play them all the time. I groove to them, and they always put me in a great happy mood.My only problem is it's on a Sunday, and I have to work the next day, so I rarely get to go, or this would be my religion. So take a Monday off, go in comfortable shoes and clothes, and be prepared to drip with sweat, and get down to get up! Awesome. I get the chills just thinking about the wonderfulness of the beautiful music that is spun here each week.Peace.The place opens at 10pm. That is no reason to get there at that hour. Lets rewind.... I sent a silly text to my girl that read: "I got vodka and I am not afraid to drink it". Its Sunday and I knew folks woke up hung over. Little did I know that innocent text would result in Sol n Harms at my house at 8:30pm talking about "We're going to Deep". Damn, I have work in the morning.... The plan was... We show up when they open and stay until 1am, go home and get some rest before we have to get to work. I did the math: Its way too late to get us on any type of guest list so we're paying tonight, 10pm - 1am equals three hours of party, At $15 admission we are looking at $5hr. Is this of any worth? HELL TO THE NO. Tell me why they were at my house at 8:30pm sharp with mixers in hand. Damn. I poured us a few shots of vodka to get our mind right. Earth to Andrius... Vodka is Nerve Tonic = Nothing happened right! At 9:30pm we're en route to Hollyhood. I'm in the backseat still trying to understand why its so early and I'm dressed to go dance. We usually go out no earlier than 11pm. Tonight we were on a mission to reverse that 'fashionably late' stereotype. We arrive at our destination at 10:03pm. The ticket trailer was not open. We walk through the velvet ropes toward the door. Security gave us that "what the hell are you doing here this early" look. I wanted to tell them we came to help set up. We were told we would have to wait until we get tickets. Once inside, it hit me. Sleepiness - but most importantly joy. I had never been to this this early and empty. Usually this place is packed tight with dancers and crackheads. The dance floor was completely empty. It was a playground for a dancer. We danced for a bit. Drank a bit. Two cocktails were $30. Rape. We ventured outside to burn tobacci. We sat in one of the cabanas. It was so comfortable I didn't get up for over an hour. Then someone turned on the heaters. Heaven. The scenery is so nice and what joy I found in just sitting back watching the party. They have speakers that play the same music that's going on in the club, outside. It was fantastic. Our goal was to stay until 1am. We all (with much help from me) decided to leave at 12:30am. It was really 12:25am. We could not hang at all. Sol got faded and wouldn't let us get food :( I came home and had peanut butter on toast. Anywho - dj's were Marques Wyatt, Big Cee, and Joplin in the lounge. It is possible that someone else played but... I didn't pay attention to anything last night. I am not a huge fan of large clubs but I find myself coming back to this club. The place is utterly… THE BEST HOUSE MUSIC in L.A. is @ DEEP!!!...I went about a month or so ago with my homegirl who is a head in the scene and also marcus' homie, so we got in for free and saw him spin. I like to dance, and this place was perfect. i was never cramped or hot. it was nicely ventilated, and great music to dance to. As a non drinker, Its always difficult to find cool and inviting dance spots. the vibe was great...everyone is really cool at Deep, and mature and respectful/non threatening. people dont go there to get shit faced, but they go there to have a good time and enjoy the music. The crowd mix is between about 20s-40s, of all races, generally decent looking. people arent really out dressed to impress. a tee shirt, levi's my nike's a hat, and im ready to go out dancing at Deep....i really wanted to stay later but i ended up leaving at around 2am when the party was just getting started. wish i could go to Deep more often, but unfortunately work mondays.....guess i will just have to deal with being sleep deprived at work some mondays...hahahaYears long, years strong. This is the best club on Sundays. 'nuff said. I try to go when i can to see a DJ that i like, but its so hard to get up on Mondays for work! There are no wallflowers here - everybody is dancing. You might see some cracked out heads left over and still awake from Saturday night. Night Of The Living Zombies up in here sometimes - but hey, its All Love! Yea, the drinks are pricey, its Hollywood. That pudgy lady bartender that works the corners on the bar is a pain in the ass (she begs for tips) but hey, its All Love! yea, sometimes i get stared down by gay (and happy) men that look me up and down with impure thoughts. But i'll just tell my lady friends to grab my ass in front of them and then laugh at their reaction. Cause hey, its All Love!!

When I moved from Chicago I did 3 things, I found a place to live, found a Job, and I searched for a spot to get my house music fix. Crazy thing is I also searched for good deep dish Chicago style pizza and, well, I gave up on that. It's cool though because I got lucky when I found a spot where on any given Sunday, I can get my House fix on.Some people go to church, I go to Deep for my sermonI'll admit that some Sundays the preacher(DJ), doesn't deliver the soul i'm used to, but hands down nothing in L.A. gets any closer than Deep-LA does for House music on a weekly basis.I'm not advising anyone to skip the early mass but for me this is as close as you can get to church but on a Sunday night.

Coming from San Francisco, it was hard finding a place and a venue in LA that had the REAL west coast deep house vibe that I was used to. I had always heard about Deep, and when I came, it was what I expected. Like SF, people came to this party to dance, period. There's plenty of room for everyone, it's easy to meet new peeps here, and anywhere with a cypher is rad~ : )Great weekly DJs who are always into what they're doing. You'll never really see usual club drama here, no out of control drunks or crackheads. Love the huge outdoor area out back, and the security folks are decent.Drinks are pricey tho, and I'm not a fan of the parking. $10 to self park? Uhhh....WHY?p.s - bring earplugs if you don't want to damage your hearing, it gets quite loud here.

Located just beside Florentine Gardens in Hollywood Blvd off 101 Fwy, Club Vanguard is an established hotspot in LA. They've got the coolest DJ's playing the hottest tracks.-$20 cover (unless u know a promoter or some other hookups)-Dress code (dress fashionably, sneakers OK, no plain white T's)-Minimum $40 credit card charge (many hollywood clubs are doing this!!!)-Parking can get bothersome after 11pm-Huge Patio, even more with the Dance Floor-Occasionally present shows around 12 midnite-Great crowd, love the ladies-Great place to dance your heart outIf you're a dude make sure to bring the ladies, like most clubs, it's a must if you wanna get in quick. Friday night is asian night (that's what it looks like) and Saturday nights have a diverse crowd and more into the house/techno/trance/electronica rave stuff. Get in early so you don't have to pay the valet. Just chill and enjoy yourself at Deep@Club Vanguard!

Deep...you are worth loosing sleep over. Dance till 4am on an Sunday night/Monday moring. You, Deep, are the evil enemy of the working man and I love you for it. Thanks for regularly rocking the dance floor with soulful, deep house, of the "praise the lord" variety.
