Al Basha! Memories of blowing mighty clouds of flavored smoke through indoor hallways.  You like smoking inside? This is your place.   Typically older, middle-eastern men congregate for a post-dinner evening of hookah smoking, card playing, and strong tea drinking.  There are also sometimes younger 18 year olds there.  They renovated it a year or so ago, and it's got bolder paint, surround sound, etc.  However, it's still a dump.  Go here if you really enjoy hookah + hummus and could care less about ambience and locale.

I really miss this place.  I have great memories of countless nights spent smoking with friends.2004 to 2006, we were regulars there. Sam, the owner, recognized me because I was the first to post a review on Yahoo Local. Really nice guy.The staff was always great, too. Darlene was an absolute sweetheart, and I still miss her to this day. Stan was a badass, and one time even wore a katana around the cafe, just because he could. I still miss his homemade Peppermint Patty mix (which nobody else has ever been able to replicate), talking about music and bands like Dredg and Sigur Ros, and how he could actually accurately pronounce Sigur Ros' song titles. Even the big security guy (I can't remember his name) that looked super scary was cool, he would always bring me a nice cup of chai and was super nice. Oh, and the one girl who recommended the honeydew five times in a row.As strange as it sounds, I enjoyed acting like we worked there. We would card people coming in, and kicked out minors. Just looking out for my favorite hookah cafe, you know? Didn't want them shut down due to minors smoking.I'm not sure why we stopped going, but we did. I still can't believe it was that long ago. I still drove a car back then! We tried going back last year, but found that they were closed. I was hoping that they had just closed early, but I tried again later in the week and they were still closed. Kinda bummed me out.I have no idea why I got super nostalgic just now.
