Love this place! The smell is inviting. My friend took a group of us here during lunch while we were doing clinicals for Med/Surg and a majority of us hadn't tried this kind of food. Pretty cheap and fast. No one was really there so we had a table to ourselves. I plan to take my boyfriend here next since he hasn't tried it.

We always, ALWAYS come here to pick up food when we are having a party or big dinner. I don't know what it is, but their dough is so soft and flavorful! I love this place! I usually get a lahm ajeen (sp?) when I'm waiting for our order...delicious every time!

Visiting from San Francisco for Disney Land, we just had to stop by this hyped up place. Let me tell you my wife and I sat there on Sunday afternoon before we journeyed back home. I had order the meat pies and the spinach pies as well as the zatar and cheees and meat pizza. Its the best I've tasted outside of Dearbon Michigan.

I'll have to say that the pizza was a stellar 4 stars for me! I enjoyed the freshness of the dough and the amount of topping was just right -- not too much -- the way European pizzas are made. Maybe next time we can ask for some vegetables too.

I had the mneish special. Damn that was some good mneish. They hook it up with lebne, tomatoes and cucumbers. I also ate the kafta pizza. Excellent. My little one loved it as well. I took a dozen mneish to go and some cheese ones too. This is the place to go if you want a good light lunch. Unless your like me and cant have enough, then that light lunch turns into an all outs heavy meal.

Nice place serving Middle Eastern style pizza. Really tasty, served hot, straight out of the oven. My favs are: Sojok with cheeese and Laham Bajan.

Delicous Middle Eastern brick oven flatbread served either as a pizza or rolled up as a sandwich. Ask for a recommendation or description of unfamiliar ingredients and you will be graciously helped. I also enjoyed the triangular spinach pies. No doubt I'll return to Al Amir on my next trip to the area.

I had the Ground Beef with Onions and Tomatoes with Akawi Cheese and it was super good! It was my first time trying Middle Eastern food and I was not disappointed!I definitely recommend this to anyone who has never tried Middle Eastern pizza!

A great, casual place for a quick, inexpensive lunch or snack. They make nice, flat, brickoven-style pizzas with various meat and herb toppings, with or without cheese. They also sell (by the dozen) savory stuffed pastries (think Middle Eastern empanadas) with spinach cheese or meat. I wish they offered some side dishes (salad, fries, or something else) to go with the pizzas to round out the meal. Try the bottled mint-flavored yoghurt drink as an accompaniment. There is a $10 minimum to use a credit card; anything less and they will charge 75 cents extra as a transaction fee.

I went here for the first time with my boyfriend a couple days ago for lunch. The place was kind of bustling because it was lunch time...but there wasn't really a line and a few tables were open. The people here are very friendly and helpful. We were kind of standing away from the counter and trying to decide what to order when a sudden rush of people came in. The lady who worked there actually acknowledged that we were there first and wanted to take our order before the others...I just told her that it was okay for the other customers to go ahead of us because we were still deciding. Once the line was gone, I asked about the menu because we weren't exactly familiar with the items. She was very friendly, helpful and patient and explained to us all the different toppings and such...we ordered a zaater and cheese topped middle eastern pizza with a side of vegetables...and grabbed a couple of sodas from their cold case thing. It's all made very fresh...the brick oven is right behind the counter and you see them make the items and put them in the oven...we waited a few minutes for our food and it was yummy! The pizza thing is about the diameter of a personal pizza more or less. We probably should have ordered two! The service here is very attentive and (I know I've already said this several times...but I'll mention it again..) friendly! The crowd pretty much died down by the time we were down with our meal...and the lady that took our order asked us how we liked the food. I really liked that about our visit...that she was concerned with how we enjoyed our food. I will definitely come here again!

After reading the reviews on here about the pizzas I just HAD to try it. We got there around 11.30am on a Sunday and it was pretty packed. There were families eating with their children and older guys just having a meal and a chat.I ordered the meat and cheese pizza and a diet coke. Total was around 5 bucks. Because they were so busy it took a while for the pizza to be ready -- about 15 mins. They were freshly made and you could see that the turnover is so fast. A man came to pick up what looked like about 20 pizzas. No wonder it took so long for my pizza to come out!!The pizzas themselves don't take very long in the oven because the dough is thin. I liked it with a good sprinkling of red peppers. Lil guy didn't like it at all. After a bite or two he said 'no more'. Guess he's used to the American style pizzas with way too much toppings!I loved the texture of the dough, thin and fluffy and tasted so fresh because it had just come out of the oven.I would come back again and try another style of pizza, maybe with some veggies on the one we had.4.5 stars!

These are awesome pizzas! Thanks yelp for helping me find this! Ok... so these are not the typical Italian pizzas... no tomato sauce and no mozzarella. This is an Arab version... Zaatar (thyme) with Lebneh (a type of cheese), different types of cheeses, Kafta (sort of like a thin delicious meat loaf)... very very delicious. They also cook everything in a brick oven.... oh so good! The best part: 2 pizzas, 2 drinks = $10.20. Oh yeah!Fun Day in Arab City:1) Get Lunch at Al Amir Bakery2) Stop by Tripoli Bakery for some snacks (best Maamoul in town)3) Head over to Al-Farah and Al-Anwar to check out cool ethnic clothing4) Shop at Super King for middle eastern groceries5) Go to a hookah bar... or for those of you who don't like hookah (like me), head over to Zankou for chicken and kabobs and finally go to La Mirage for some good coffee and desserts

This is a great place to go to get a variety of fatayer. Fatayer are kind of like pizzas in a sense, but very flat, and no saucey layer underneath the top. I always order the egg and cheese, but there are other great ones as well. I like the sour apple soda that they sell too! It's supposed to be "non-alcoholic beer" I think. Whatever it is, I like it, and I always purchase that with the meal. I've gone to this place a few times with friends and we always enjoyed it. I think it's more well suited towards snacking than eating a big meal. You can also find it open extremely late during the month of Ramadan (if you know when that is)

I used to come here with my high school buddies after school. Just drive down Brookhurst and get a Fresh, Steamy, CHeesy but not too cheesy, right-out-of-the-brick-oven (TOASTY on the outside, CHEWY on the inside) Arabic quesadilla! I don't know if that's what they're actually called but they are darn delishuz! Well worth the life risking rides from high school boy drivers still in the high n mighty phase of their driving careers. I've only gotten the cheese and cheese with some green thing. If you're a first-timer, go for the cheese! When I used to go, it was $1.99 each. beware: if you're taking it to go, make sure you're not riding in a strict "don't get a fingerprint on my car" driver's car...the oil will leak through the paper bag...part of the reason why it's so yummy right?I think i'll go get some today! =]

First of all, I'm not a pizza fan at all. That's right, I don't care for pizza! I hate cheesy saucy type food, and yes. I don't care for Italian or Mexican cuisine. With that said, these are Middle Eastern type pizza's and I'm sure they're not called pizza, but what the hell. That's what I'm calling them! This place had what I would say a pizza should be. Crust and meat only, or crust and herbs only. I even tried a crust with cheese... Yes cheese! The cheese was thin and had a nice salty taste to it.These pizza's were tasty and cheap. 3 pizza's (12in dia) and a drink was like 8 bucks. I will be back to try more of there menu.

Cheap, crispy Middle Eastern pizza! Way better than CPK, this place might be intimidating for newbies. The cashier was very friendly and helped us with what to order. Kafta and Cheese is like a thin spread of sausage meat and cheese on thin crust. There's also a plain cheese and something with eggs on it. A young patron came up to us while we were eating and asked us if we liked it. I guess it was obvious we were noobs. Even though you order at a counter, Al Amir Bakery doesn't make you pay until after you eat. Don't get too flummoxed with this. Also, extra points for the oddly located adult bookstore in the strip mall. FYI, they're having a big DVD sale. The giant banner said so.

"Due to the fire that destroyed our bakery we regret not being able to serve you. We thank all of our customers who have supported us and God willing we promise to be back as soon as we can." AL AMIR BAKERY al amir is the best

I used to drive 50 min to this place but too bad it burnt to the ground.I've tried every pie and each one tasted better than the other.there are so many shitty bakeries in LA, OC or SD but this one's the best in SoCal.PLEASE RE-OPEN IT!! or open one in LA

I hope to God that they re-open after a fire destroyed their building. This place is (was?) one of my regular spots for an afternoon snack and I love chatting with the owner whenever he takes our order. I always order the cheese- simple, yet delicious- and top it off with some crushed red peppers. I love that they make it in a brick oven that looks like some kind of home-made invention. It takes about 6 minutes to bake, which can seem like an eternity when you're supposed to be back at school, but it is always worth the wait for the hot, cheesy pie. Wash it down with a Pepsi, and you're set.

The Best Arabic Pizza in California- closed down but hopefully re opening soon!I havent eaten here in a while but was sad to drive past the location and saw that it had burned down!"SFIHA" is the arabic word for "pizza" And Al Amir had the best pizza's, Topped with roasted beef, vegetables, zaatar and cheese, this place was the best~! My favorites were the Soujok- a beef spicy sausage on pizza with fresh pickles and tomato slices, and the vegetarian pizza. It was a small pizza with cheese, tomato sauce, olives, bell peppers, onion and tomatoes. The owners are very nice people and always took the time to greet me and welcome me whenever I ate here.I am very sad that this place burned down but I hope they open up asap. Once Al Amir reopens make sure you come here because this place is hands down the best Sfiha Ive ever had, and definitely worth the drive to Anaheim!

Cheap and interesting flat bread pizza things!!! The cheese one is my favorite, although the others are tasty as well. I'd stay away from the yogurt drink (even though I adore yogurt!!!), but that's just me. It has a striking flavor, and I don't mean that in a good way.Too bad the place burnt down. I hope they open up again!

I AM SO SAD to find out that this place burned down. During Ramadan, I drag all my Muslim friends out at night to hit up this place, but not this year. =/However, I am glad to hear that they are rebuilding it to be bigger and better. Come back soon! There is only one thing you can get here. Manaesh. Zatar and Lahme be'l ajeen (meat on dough) are…
