There was music and it was a very cozy atmosphere. The wine was reasonably priced and for the someone who never had Moroccan food before, the Kafta Brochette was great. It was a unique dish. The portions, price and service were great. The hookahs were fun as well.

I really liked this place when it first opened; it's one of the very few places I've found in New York where you can get both reasonably-priced and reasonably-authentic Moroccan food.  However, the last couple times I've been there, it's been run over by young kids who are blasting really crappy music at nightclub-decibel levels.  I live only a few blocks away but will not be back until it becomes a place for grownups again.

Authentic Moroccan food in the heart of the Little Egypt in Astoria. If you like couscous you should try it with the lamb tagine., as this is one of the most typical dishes of North Africa. The harira  is also delicious and the mint tea is heavenly (no one makes it like the Moroccans),  One warning for the ladies...this is a traditional place and I would go with a group of friends or with a guy, just to avoid the uncomfortable stares...Steinway, above 30th avenue, is the man's world...Got me!?!

Well, my most recent experience has done it for me. I went on a Saturday night. The "buffet" was gross - though cheap - and some clearly under-age kids in the restaurant were taking over the music, playing loud, really old and bad rap music. A so-so bottle of white wine was $30. If I ever eat here again, it'll definitely be take-out.On the other hand, it seems like one of the few places in Astoria that serves alcohol and hookah. :-\ I went on a Friday night, and it was nearly empty. There was a table nearby with some rowdy…

Don't be dissuaded by the fast food looking entry way at jour et nuit.   This place is separated into two distinct areas, the day(jour) area for quick eats, and the nuit(night) area for delicious french moroccan cuisine in a romantic atmosphere.  The nuit section has an extensive menu and is tended to by very attentive an friendly staff.  The food is tasty and unique.  Totally worth a try.

I have nothing against the restaurant but they definately need some sound proof windows because they are not respectful of their neighbors...

Jour et Nuit simmers with a lot of potential. They serve an excellent lamb tagine, falling-off-the bone tenderness and tasty. That is the only thing I eat at Jour et Nuit. However, the place needs some cleaning up especially since when you enter, you pass by the kitchen which is in front of the restaurant. Oh, we had tea after the meal and it was heavenly. Then we tried the hookah and liked it.During the nights that we dined here, there was a belly-dancer and the men and women dining also joined the dancing. It was fun! As I've said, this place has a lot of potential and I do hope Najib will enhance the cleanliness and service of Jour et Nuit.
