They advertise themselves as the first and only gay Middle Eastern club in LA and it happens on Thursday nights at MJ's Bar. The vibe is really laid back and there are people smoking out of hookahs in the back patio.Last night was my first time (how often do I get to say that nowadays?!). We got there at 10pm and the club seemed dead. I was told it would pick up by 11 pm. They weren't kidding. The place was packed! I had a great time dancing. Although the majority of the music was Middle Eastern, I'm sure I heard a few Indian tracks. And they did play some hip-hop, but not a lot.Everyone seemed friendly, at least to me. And no one seemed to mind that most of us on the dance floor had no real clue how to gyrate our hips like Shakira. Didn't stop me from trying, though I wish it had stopped some people altogether! I'm looking forward to going back.And the only reason I don't give them 5 stars-- and this may seem petty-- is because the only go-go dancer I saw (mind you, I was too busy dancing all night) looked like he was on crack. I was tempted to drag him across the street to force feed him a burrito or two. Not cute and not sexy.

This is by far the best Middle Eastern party in LA! The music is great and the vibe is laid back but pretty tense. Yeah, you get some real drama queens showing up but that's to be expected at any gay club, it just becomes more pronounced when Middle Easterners are involved! As long as you stay away from the drama and the posers and just enjoy the music and stick to your friends, you'll have a great time.
